So the RAF is 100 years old today. Not a bad achievement for a force that doesn't mention the country of origin but it worked for the Navy so why not. Wonder why we don't have a Royal Army as well. Any way, I digress. Long may they continue.

In the spirit of the Royal Mail stamps I thought about half a dozen aircraft that I might have printed up for the occasion. Not easy and may be you would g for something different but here are mine.

Ah, thanks Joe :-)

Strangely I started reading a book about the Berlin Airlift this morning and in the first 'setting the scene' chapter it referred to the Royal Army. Hopefully not written by a Brit!

HAPPY 100th RAF - TALLY HO CHAPS!!!!

Reason it's not the "Royal Army" is due to the fact the regiments that make up the British Army carry the Royal title, i.e. Royal Logistic Corps, Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers. All harks back to the time when the UK had several armies then they became one but retained their regimental status.
