Anniversary stamps

AviationPosted by Peter Smith Wed, March 28, 2018 18:12:32

Royal Mail are bringing out a new set of stamps to make the centenary of the RAF. In addition to those below there are four more depicting the Red Arrows.

The 1st class stamp is the Hurricane. Makes a change that its not the Spitfire grabbing all the glory!

Dunno, think the Hurricane is coming back from the cold, maybe because a more true picture is emerging that there were more Hurricanes than Spitfires in the Battle of Britain and folk always love 'the underdog'. For me the Hurricane was a bloody good all-rounder and we must remember that the Hurricane wing was a much better steadier gun platform when the guns fired opposed to the Spitfire wing which made the aircraft buckaroo.
